In 2018, the Lao government, Laos Maha Nathi Sithandone (Hong Kong) Investment Co., Ltd., and LTV Road and Bridge Construction Sole Co., Ltd. signed an agreement to develop the Maha Nathi Sithandone Special Economic Zone on an area of 9,846 hectares on islands in Khong district.

Laos-China Railway project is 70% completed, while the compensation’s paid to affected people is 20.4% (369 billion Kip) of total amount 2,492 billion Kip.
