PIASVC Project proudly hosted its Closing Workshop at the Holiday Inn, Vientiane Capital, bringing together government partners, development organizations, civil society representatives, and project stakeholders to reflect on an impactful journey.
Organized by the Department of Land Administration and Management (DLAM) and Helvetas Laos, with the support of the Land Information Working Group (LIWG), the event was co-chaired by distinguished representatives: H.E. Dr. Xaynakhone Inthavong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Dr. Willem Van Der Muur, Senior Land Administration Specialist, World Bank, Mr. Andreas Gerrits, Deputy Director of Cooperation at SDC, and Helvetas Mr. Jesper Elias Laudrisen, Country Director of Helvetas Laos.
The event, attended by representatives from the PIASVC Implementation Management Committee (IMC), which includes DLAM, the Ministry of Justice, the Lao Women's Union, the Lao Front for National Development, along with the four sub-grantee organizations, showcased the project's achievements from 2023 to 2026, highlighting:
- Positive impacts in target communities
- Strong outreach through media and social media campaigns
- Inspiring stories and feedback from beneficiaries
- Results from the PIASVC independent endline evaluation
As PIASVC approaches the end of its implementation, this event helped demonstrate the dedication and attentiveness of the project implementers and all partners. It provided an important platform for stakeholders at every level, from national institutions to district and village representatives, to celebrate collective achievements and lessons learned.
During the open discussion session, an official from the Ministry of Justice, who has continually supported the project, shared an impressive sentiment: "This project has created a great deal of tools and materials, such as manuals, posters, and short videos in both Lao and ethnic languages. I can safely say that this project has a highly comprehensive set of training materials, and I am confident that the community and local authorities will continue to utilize these materials to their maximum benefit." These materials will remain available to support other relevant projects moving forward.
At the conclusion, one of the co-chairs closed the workshop with a meaningful and important remark: "We have seen clear evidence and outcomes from the project's implementation through today's data presentation, especially the social media campaign reach, which exceeded 3 million views. It is highly impressive, and we should maintain this successful strategy in the future."
These successes would not have been possible without the commitment, collaboration, and support of all partners involved. Together, we have helped build a strong foundation that can inspire and inform future land governance initiatives in Laos.
