In 2018, the Lao government, Laos Maha Nathi Sithandone (Hong Kong) Investment Co., Ltd., and LTV Road and Bridge Construction Sole Co., Ltd. signed an agreement to develop the Maha Nathi Sithandone Special Economic Zone on an area of 9,846 hectares on islands in Khong district.

ຜົນການເຈລະຈາຄ່າຊົດເຊີຍໄດ້ຕົກລົົງກັນໃນມູນຄ່າ 54 ລ້ານໂດລາສະຫະລັດ ຈາກມູນຄ່າເບື້່ອງຕົ້ນທີ່ໄດ້ສະເໜີໃນມູນຄ່າ 273 ລ້ານໂດລາສະຫະລັດ ເຊິ່ງປັດຈຸບັນ ບໍລິສັດປະກັນໄພ ໄດ້ໂອນເງິນເຂົ້າບັນຊີທະນາຄານແລ້ວຈໍານວນ 49,9 ລ້ານໂດລາສະຫະລັດ.

ໃນນັ້ນເປັນໂຄງການເຊົ່າທີ່ດິນ 173 ໂຄງການ, ສໍາປະທານທີ່ດິນ 1,569 ໂຄງການ ແລະ ສັນຍາຜະລິດຮ່ວມກັບປະຊາຊົນ 16 ໂຄງການ (ກວມເອົາທັງໝົດ ກວມເອົາເນື້ອທີ່ 11,754,417 ເຮັກຕາ).

There will be 4,411 families are affected by this project. The project is now completed 70%, the compensation process is far from the construction, 20.4% completed. It's planned to finish by the end of 2021.

The project is expected to have a direct impact on 26 villages in three provinces: Luang Prabang, Oudomxay and Xayaburi, with an estimated 840 households (9,974 people).

Laos-China Railway project is 70% completed, while the compensation’s paid to affected people is 20.4% (369 billion Kip) of total amount 2,492 billion Kip.

Vietnam has invested US$4.1 billion in 409 projects in Laos, with the largest investments being in the public works and transport, energy and mines, and agriculture sectors
